PERSONALITY
[attr="class","fbidossiertxtboxy"]Frankly, Enzo's personality leaves a lot to be desired, but it's worth it to focus on his strengths first. Though he doesn't look like it, he has a strong sense of responsibility, mainly to protect. Regardless of his temperament he is there for his students, and it's his job to make sure they know how to protect themselves, because the wizarding world can't always be in peace. He also has a powerful sense of honor and fairness and when he feels he owes someone he always repays that debt no matter what, and would never hurt someone defenseless or innocent. He's a fast learner, that's probably his greatest talent, and is very, very good at being social and communicative despite expressing his own dislike for being social pretty often. He likes to try and come off as lazy but he's a ridiculously hard worker, brushing it off as if it's not that big of a deal. He's very intelligent because of that, sharp, quick-thinking, and adaptive, but it's perceived more as cunningness a lot of the time. He also has an excellent sense of humor but that's his opinion.
However he's also a very bitter and resentful person. With his history, you can't really blame him, but it's made him a harsh critic of everything good in his life and everyone that might wander into it. He's extremely distrustful, to the point that it turns away nearly everyone that could care for him, and he's very bad at expressing how much he cares. His character is misleading, he can often be made out to be the 'bad guy' without meaning to because of his bitterness and the fact the he can be cold as all hell and very sarcastic and sassy, which generally wards people off. He makes himself very difficult to like on purpose. He's also stubborn, easily holding grudges, and isn't incredibly wiling to forgive someone. He's a petty hater of even the most minor of betrayals no matter how they try to make it up to him. He's also just not a good team player because he does what he wants. He overcompensates for his insecurities by acting arrogant and self-assured and though it's usually justified he can be really patronizing as a result. He's a liar, can be manipulative, simply because he wants to hide himself and keep things strictly professional. Aside from how responsible and honorable he can be, he's most of all very selfish and will put himself before others.

HISTORY
[attr="class","fbidossiertxtboxy"]It's hard to believe Enzo became what he is when he was born in basically the Coziest Village Ever - Appleby, England. He was born to a pair of muggles there, the youngest of the now three boys that they had. They were a tight-knit family, and though they didn't have much money, there was no shortage of love between them. Love within a family can do wonders - but so can the absence of it. When Enzo started displaying unusual abilities at the young age of seven, his parents were scared stiff, and his brothers wary and cautious. Suddenly there were hushed conversations that Enzo was left out of, family meetings he was no longer included in, discussing what on earth they could do with a child that was as abnormal as he was and when he accidentally set the kitchen on fire one evening, they were just about out of their minds.
They were frightened. And fear conquers even love, so without much thinking and no time to regret the decision, they had Enzo packed for a train ride to his aunt and uncle's house to live at for a little while, an aunt and uncle who had died years and years ago. To put it simply: He was abandoned, left to fend for himself, at eight years old because of the terror of being magical. He'd been betrayed by the people he'd loved most, his own flesh and blood. It was very lucky that he was discovered by a muggle liason, but young Enzo had bitterness in his heart already and didn't want to go back to his family for the liason to explain how things were. He didn't deserve them, and they didn't deserve him and so it was. He lived with the liason for awhile but they weren't able to support him so he was betrayed again in Enzo's eyes, left in the care of a half-blooded family that had just lost their child.
Things were good with the Everetts, and Enzo found himself taking their name just before he was shipped off to Hogwarts, but he never really found it in him to love them. Even as a kid he couldn't find it in him to love again only to have his back turned on him, if not because he was magical then because of something else. His own fear twisted him. Upon arriving at Hogwarts he was sorted into Slytherin house. A mudblood among pureblood elitists, those raised practically in royalty. Enzo should've felt small, but rather than shrinking away from the backlash he received for his heritage, he developed a sharp and sassy tongue right off the bat. He wasn't going to bow his head in defeat, he vowed to fight back.
And that was precisely what got him into Defense Against the Dark Arts. Fighting back began to be in his nature as much as bitterness was, a quality that was required in the house of the snakes as a mudblood. He had a difficult time making friends due to how unfriendly and distrustful he was to anyone who offered him kindness, but he did make some here and there. He made the mistake of making a close friend in Slytherin, and was later betrayed by her in the worst way, reawakening whatever bitterness i him had settled down over the years and making him remember again to never be soft, to always fight back. He had a strong sense of justice and it prevailed through his graduation. Afterward, he studied even harder than he did in school to earn credibility in the area of DADA and though he wanted to become an Auror, ambitious to fight his way to the top, he was drawn into the DADA professor position at Hogwarts when he was twenty-four because some small, untainted part of him liked the idea of helping the underdogs of the school learn to fight back and protect themselves and every ideal he's held close to his heart. So now, two years later, he still holds the position and though he's just about the most unlikable people you'll ever meet, he's also one of the best professors, and cares a hell of a lot more than it seems.
