Tapping just the right brick in the wall behind the Leaky Cauldron in London will reveal an archway which is a portal into Diagon Alley, a long cobbled street where is to be found a strange and exciting assortment of shops and restaurants.

This is an imposing place guarded by goblins, where witches and wizards keep their money and other valuables in vaults located miles and miles below ground. It is rumored that the goblins of Gringotts employ the likes of dragons to guard some of the high security vaults.

Hogwarts is located quite near the villiage; a road runs around the school grounds to Hogsmeade Station, where the Hogwarts Express stops to disembark the students at the start of term. According to tradition, Hogsmeade was founded about the same time as Hogwarts by Hengist of Woodcroft, who was fleeing persecution by Muggles.

Just around the corner from Diagon Alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devoted to the Dark Arts. It's a place the wizards hanging around behave fairly suspiciously as well. From the shops and the street vendors one can purchase, among other things, shrunken heads, poisonous candles, human-looking fingernails, and Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent.

The Hogwarts Express is a passenger train which makes a run between King's Cross Station, London, and Hogsmeade Station. It makes this run at least four times a year, and probably more often than that, as needed. It does leave without fail on September 1 at 11 am from Platform Nine and Three Quarters, King's Cross, arriving at Hogsmeade Station in the early evening.

The Ministry of Magic is the governmental authority of the for the wizarding world in Britain. The basic mission of the Ministry is to keep the Muggles from finding out about an entire culture of magical folk. It's a huge, complicated, and inefficient bureaucracy, just like most governmental organizations.

Founded in late 1500s or early 1600s by Mungo Bonhan, St. Mungo's Hospital is located in London. The Healers at St. Mungo's are trained and equipped to treat a wide variety of magic-related illnesses and injuries. The staff wear lime green robes. The St. Mungo's emblem is a wand and a bone, crossed.
